Unlike other books on this topic, Polyamory in the 21st Century weaves together research and facts to provide an informed and impartial analysis of polyamory as a lifestyle and as a movement, and to place it in a psychosocial as well as an historical context. Anecdotes and personal experiences allow the reader to develop a better understanding of polyamory and the people who practice and enjoy it. Anapol addresses the practical, the utopian, and the shadow sides of this intriguing, mysterious, yet often threatening lifestyle. It honestly addresses difficult issues such as the nature of commitment without exclusivity, balancing personal needs with loyalty to a partner, evaluating beliefs about love and relationship, the impact of polyamory on children, and the challenges that arise when one partner wants monogamy and another prefers polyamory. Without judgement, she explores this increasingly common practice, and reveals the true nature of a lifestyle that many do not understand.

Review :
Another blockbuster work in the sexual revolution!
I have been a follower and fan of Dr. Anapol for many years. Frankly, I thought she had given up hope in creating acceptance of responsible nonmonogamy ("polyamory"), but this work is absolutely the SOURCE for balanced, insightful, well researched and documented TRUTH about how many humans behave in the 21st century...in other words, the idea of two virgins marrying for life is a bit passe'. And she proceeds to discuss why responsible nonmonogamy is difficult and why it is rewarding. She clearly reports on aspects of polyamory that are troublesome, such as how attractive this choice is for sex addicts. Yet she also details the biological elements of human behavior that validate multiple partners. This book should become a textbook for therapists of every persuasion. It could change the very nature of counseling. It will require every reader to look carefully at the belief that monongamy is the norm and multiple partnering is pathological.

Open Love and Relating: Global Perspectives on the Present and Future
For those interested in a global perspective on open relating, this is the book to read. Author Deborah Taj Anapol is one of the founders of polyamory as a lovestyle and as a movement. Polyamory, the practice of sharing love and intimacy with multiple partners in open, respectful, and authentic ways, is a style of love that came into being in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. One of its seminal texts is Polyamory: The New Love Without Limits, also by Anapol.
With this new book, the author comes back to assess the progress of the lovestyle and movement. A world traveler who has given seminars and coaching sessions in several continents and regions, Anapol also shares the wisdom acquired from these multiple experiences to assess the reality and possibilities of polyamory on a global scale and in the future. An accomplished scholar and researcher trained in psychotherapy, Anapol offers numerous examples and models about what polyamory can and cannot do for...
The More the Merrier vs. Keeping it Simple
Have you ever deliberated to click the "It's Complicated" relationship status on your Facebook profile? A twinge of guilt masked with exhilaration swirls through that impending keyboard click. Depending upon your reasons for hesitation, you might unconsciously subscribe to a polyamorous lovestyle.

What is Polyamory? Author Deborah Anapol defines polyamory as "having an intimate relationship with more than one person at a time." As opposed to swinging, which is consensual exchange of partners for recreational sex, polyamory seeks to cultivate multiple relationships beyond that of erotic escapades. For those with extraordinary emotional capacity to nurture numerous relationships simultaneously (or serially), Anapol presents polyamory as an admirable option to traditional monogamy.

Controversial as this subject may be, polyamory does not define itself as a grassroots replication of the adamant 60s era free love promiscuity. Polite company eschews talk of...

In Chinese medicine, acupressure points are considered gateways for the human electrical energy that runs throughout the body. This energy is essential for optimal sexual pleasure and Gach explains with line drawings, photographs, and step-by-step instructions how to release this energy and naturally increase sexuality and sexual enjoyment. With easy stretching, tips, and exercises for eliminating stress and tension in the body, Acupressure for Lovers also helps couples promote relaxation while enhancing eroticism and intimacy.

Review :
A Perfect Touch
Very well done. With sensitive material that could easily be presented either too pornographically or too clinically, Michael Reed Gach, a Californian acupressure practitioner and teacher, strikes the perfect balance. Contents include: acupressure guidelines, stimulating sexual energy, building intimacy, preparing for love, arousing a woman or a man, and acupressure techniques for mutual stimulation, oral sex, and intercourse. Also includes chapters on Thai Massage, "Acupressure for the Afterglow" and acupressure for sexual problems and healing. The author is generous with information and presents it with clarity. The book includes diagrams and photos, also presented sensitively and clearly. The subject is treated with the tenderness it deserves and yet is very specific in its suggested applications of this age-old technique. Highly recommended.

Easy to Use and Understand
Sometimes, finding the right location of points can be tricky. This book has enough pictures and illustrations that make it easy to follow. Effective!

Try this, you won't be sorry
This book can bring heightend intimacy and increased sexual satisfaction to your relationship. At the very least the techniques are relaxing, and very loving, with some practice you may find some startling results, igniting new found interest in sharing and exploring your mate.
I've owned five copies, each one borrowed...never to return. I now give it as a wedding, or 1st anniversary gift. Have your lover page through it and mark interesting pages with yellow stickies. Do your homework, and enjoy each other. You'll probably find yourself spending more time in bed together, and watching less TV.

A senstive but thorough guide
One of the first books I owned and read about sex was the classic The Joy of Sex by Alex Comfort. I was both riveted and embarrassed even though, in hindsight, that how-to manual did approach the subject with greater sensitivity than many recent books. Most books on sex are really how-to manuals without in-depth context. They speak to the mechanics of sex, but rarely discuss the nuts-and-bolts of physical intimacy of love making within committed relationships. The other book I read as a new bride, erred on the side of the esoteric, citing studies and providing clinical explanations that might have bored some to tears and almost frightened me.

For the uninitiated or those with limited experience, but a strong desire or need to go beyond just the possible viable positions and methods of pleasuring one another, there is a lovely solution in Jennie Rosenfeld's and David S. Ribner's new book, The Newlywed's Guide to Physical Intimacy. I was fortunate to receive it through the...
Down to brass tacks and no euphemisms. In Kindle edition, illustrations are after "Parting Words"
Living in a modern orthodox community that is (one of) the intended audience for this book, I see how DESPERATELY it is needed. It is clear, does not use euphemisms, and is incredibly down-to-brass-tacks practical. Right down to the various types of lubricant and a warning not to use too much or add more later. This kind of knowledge is golden for its audience. I didn't expect to learn much (I'm a 3 month newlywed), as I was an informal relationship counselor on my college campus, but there were tips I'd never heard. Additionally, I saw it from a new perspective as a newlywed who had not been sexually active for several years. I am especially glad how strongly the authors repeated that your own comfort is the essential ingredient (and that without your own comfort, it's not going to work well physically).

My only disappointment was the answer to a female's question about her husband refusing to do more than one position after a year of marriage. Respecting his comfort level...
Much Needed Resource.
This is a must have book for anyone who has not yet had the sex talk!
Or someone who wants to empower themselves and their relationship.

People need to know this stuff!

When issues arise in our sex lives we can feel depressed, distant, confused, lost and embarrassed. A book like this will help couples with a language to talk about their bodies, sex and their experiences.

Firstly, some people need help knowing what sex is and how it all works.
Secondly, couples need to know that sometimes things don't go according to plan and that sometimes these variations are normal. That they are not the only ones who experience these things. That they are normal.

Luckily they can now find out more without needing to go talk to anyone in their community.
They will also know that help is out there.

As Sex therapist (in Australia) I am especially thrilled that they have included a section on painful intercourse, which will discuss...

Excellent book for lesbian couples
I read this book from cover to cover in a few days. It is well written in an easy to read conversational style. Dr. Corwin is a clinical psychologist who has written this book for the lay public but it would be helpful for clinicians as well. She is different than many writers on this topic in that she describes both the published academic research and clinical examples. She has made the research accessible to her audience with her easily understood descriptions of the findings. Her book makes many good points and covers relevant topics that contribute to sexual issues in couples including desire discrepancy, body image issues, sexual abuse issues, aging and hormones, fidelity and parenting. She gives many helpful techniques that are backed both by research and clinical cases to help a same-sex couples maintain their sexuality. The activities at the end of each chapter can help couples begin to be aware of their patterns and start talking more openly about the issues. I have been...
Excellent look at relationships
Sexual Intimacy for Women is a compelling, well-written and researched look at many aspects of lesbian relationships, including the impact intimacy can have. The book is very readable including actual situations her 'composite' clientele have been faced with and how she helped them through their issues. We can all see ourselves in these pages. Excellent read for anyone in a relationship or hoping to be in one.

A terrific, thought-provoking read!
Sexual Intimacy for Women is a must-read book, whether you're just beginning to explore yourself sexually or whether you consider yourself more experienced. Dr. Corwin uses a combination of scientific evidence and clinical experience and examples to tackle some very difficult and private issues. Topics include body image, aging, fidelity issues, sexual abuse, lesbian parenthood, communication, and orgasm. Another beauty of the book is that the chapters pretty much stand on their own, so you can read them in any order you wish. At the end of every chapter is an area entitled "Your Turn," in which Dr. Corwin puts forth thought-provoking questions that the reader can work through. Her style of writing is so easy and fluid that it's like having a conversation with a very close friend!

Review :
Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work Revisited
I LOVED the book Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work. Unfortunately, this book is simply a remake of that one. Many of the stories are identical, and not much of the information is new. There are a couple chapters related specifically to having a baby, but you could read them quickly at the library without purchasing the book. If you haven't read the other book, this book would be great -- just don't buy both!!

Even better than the workshop!
My husband and I attended the Bringing Baby Home workshop, developed from this book, and I enjoy the text perhaps even more. Gottman's discussion about the origin of the concept of "spoiling" was fascinating and revealing about our culture and the historical influence behind some prevalent parenting theories. Gottman provides couples the tools, information, and the inpiration to stay bonded to each other and to become bonded to their babies. I found this book valuable and a wife, a pediatric nurse, and a new mother.

This will SAVE your marriage! A Must READ!!!!
I am a certified labor doula and I bought this book so I could help my doula clients. I didn't realize how helpful it would be to me as well. I wanted to be able to provide my clients with some good information about how things might be after their baby is born. IT's not an easy transition in many ways. Although delightful, the roller coaster of emotions both parents go through can be rough and lead to divorce. I can't tell you how many times I have gone to a postpartum visit only to see my clients sitting separately. The dad not responding to mom's requests and mom not talking to dad but talking AT him. I know them because we met prenatally and seeing the transition is astounding. The once happy couple, who would do anything for each other while pregnant, is now sad. Dad is no longer focused on mom and wanting to make her happy. Mom isn't really doing much to make dad happy. They are two people living in the same home but they are slowly losing each other. Sleep deprivation and an...
