This unique thing Offer exceeded out prospect, this has become a amazing upgrade on personally, The idea showed up securely along with rapidly The Sexy Years: Discover the Hormone Connection: The Secret to Fabulous Sex, Great Health, and Vitality, for Women and Men

Getting older can be brutal—women gain weight, lose their sex drive, experience hot flashes, suffer memory loss, become short-tempered, find it difficult to sleep, and on and on. It’s not so easy for men, either—they start to lose energy and stamina as they age, too (and they have to live with women going through menopause). After years of being thin and fit and full of energy, Suzanne herself encountered the “Seven Dwarfs of Menopause”—Itchy, Bitchy, Sweaty, Sleepy, Bloated, Forgetful, and All-Dried-Up. Instead of living out the rest of her life cranky, sleep-deprived, and libido-less, Suzanne set out to discover how she could get her mind, body, and life back and banish those pesky dwarfs for good.

The result is The Sexy Years: Discover the Hormone Connection—The Secret to Fabulous Sex, Great Health, and Vitality, for Women and Men. In this passionately argued and enormously practical book, Suzanne supports her own research and experiences with the expertise of leading doctors in the field of women’s and men’s health and sexuality to create an inspiring, accessible call-to-arms to women to radically rethink how they approach life after fifty, and give them the tools to turn their lives around.

Suzanne has discovered that the second half of life has been more rewarding, fun, and purposeful than her younger years. The key to her happiness? Taking natural bioidentical hormones. Natural hormones, which mimic the hormones produced in our own bodies that are almost completely lost with aging, are the answer to the symptoms of menopause that plague women. Recent findings from the medical community show that synthetic hormone replacement therapy
(HRT) may be harmful to women—thus, thousands of women are looking for what else they can do to alleviate their symptoms. In The Sexy Years, Suzanne comes to the rescue with a step-by-step plan and detailed information about how women can take control of their health, for themselves and for their men, including:

• What the differences are between synthetic and bioidentical hormones, and why bioidentical hormones help women lose weight, reinvigorate their sex lives, and fight the symptoms of aging
• How doctors do not receive adequate training about hormones and are slaves to the pharmaceutical industry, and what questions every woman must ask her physician about hormone replacement therapy and her health
• How Suzanne turned her life around, with information about how often she visits her doctor, blood work, what hormones she takes, how to get these hormones, and more
• What male menopause, or andropause, is and how men can also take bioidentical hormones and regain the energy they had in their youth
• What a variety of specialists think about natural hormones, health, and sexuality—Suzanne shares the best advice from these doctors and provides a resource list of physicians and pharmacies

With bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, Suzanne has found the fountain of youth, the elixir that has made her feel thirty years old again. In combination with her Somersize diet and fitness plan, which she also writes about here, Suzanne has never felt better. The beauty of growing older, she maintains, is that you can combine the wisdom of age with the vitality of youth. Suzanne makes it perfectly clear how women and men can regain their zest for life at any age. These really are the sexy years!

From the Hardcover edition.Menopause is a complicated business. Medical issues vary widely and treatment options seem endless--especially in the wake of bad news about hormone replacement. While The Sexy Years isn't meant to supply you with a specific program of daily supplements, Suzanne Somers does offer an excellent inspiration to march forth and take control of this stage of health. Much of the book covers her own experience of menopause, including some detail on her breast cancer ordeal. She advocates the use of natural, bioidentical hormonal replacement, available through a variety of creams and supplements--it's a rare page that doesn't gush about the power of these substances or raise negative issues about the use of synthetic hormones. Introductory medical information is included on how estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone work together to keep people healthy and active; the vocabulary is understandable and generally entertaining rather than overwhelming. She provides interviews with a variety of doctors and women in various stages of menopause. These will give women a good place to start with topics to address with their own medical providers. While a short index of doctors and compounding pharmacies is provided, most women will have to do their own research to find local natural hormone specialists. But if you're looking for a boost of courage to bring up these treatments with your doctor--or simply want to investigate more natural alternatives to the standard synthetics--this is a fine place to get started. --Jill Lightner

Review :
Applause from a bioidentical hormone consultant
As a board-certified OB-GYN M.D. who has prescribed bioidentical hormones for more than 15 years, I can strongly endorse this book and its recommendations. Sommers' personal experience -- detailed down to her personal hormone dosing schedule -- and the recommendations of her consulting physicians will be highly informative and motivating for post-menopausal women. (I know that for a fact, since five readers have visited my office this week alone.) These women have been at a loss about how to proceed in the face of research demonstrating the health risks of conventional hormones such as Premarin. Thanks to Sommers' celebrity status and her solid health recommendations, women will have somewhere to turn for answers. It took exceptional bravery for Sommers to write a book that takes the pharmaceutical industry to task for their financially motivated role in medical opinion and practice. It's that influence, she observes, that has kept women on hormones derived from horse urine, which,...
Suzanne has done it again!
Suzanne Somers is a lot more than a pretty face...get this book at any age and get a view and many answers to a time of life that can be a skate...or a nightmare...don't count on the medical profession to know what will help....very few of them have a clue and there are lots of middle aged women...and men who are struggling with more than "the change"...US medical schools fail miserably with nutrition and hormones...all they know is disease and drugs..very profitable, but full of side effects and MORE problems..
This book is full of great information and help...neither I could find here in the nation's capitol...full of Doctors living the good life and no answers...Suzanne has found some forward thinking HEALERS who happen to be Doctors..and they share what they have found really works for their Patients...not the pharmaceutical companies...this is lots of information well presented with humor and caring...Thanks Suzanne!

One pill doesn't fix millions
I've always said to my Dr., family & friends that one pill doesn't fix all. They all thought I'd lost it. My thinking is we are ALL individual humans with different DNA & gene pools. How can 1 pill made in a lab; tested on menopausal women work for EVERYONE. And what about those who have other issues like fiberoids, peri-menopause, hysterectomies, etc. Do they take the same pill? I kept asking my Dr.'s and got the standard answer "well that's what my Medical Journal says." I realize their education in this subject is limited but Suzanne's book goes into that. Science has helped many with illness & disease, and for those discoveries that is to be commended. But menopause & all that comes with aging at this time in a woman's life should be individualized. I'm glad to see the science behind her book & my theory proven. Watch & see how this turns the tables on the drug companies theory that "one pill works for everyone". I'll bet they...

Review :
Quite adequite, although possibly excessive.
This is quite an interesting book. Its central basis surrounds the clit but also describes it as the central pleasure point to pretty much everything else. It provides all the information necessary along with many anatomical and entertaining hand-sketched pictures, describing all the various muscles and functions and spots of the entire female genetalia. On this, I could not complain or ask for anything more.
Indeed, the author has done her homework in writing this book, but I say excessive in the title because of how the material is presented along with the many accompanying details. Many a page are filled with backround information on the "Adventure of the Clitoris!"(no, they don't actually word it like that in the book). Strongly written in the female perspective, although it doesn't demean usefulness for the male readers, it gives the history of the clitorus all the way back to greek times as well as various stories and such. Although it does give the book some color, ideas...
Mixed review
I purchased this book because I was searching for information on orgasm. My opinion of this book is mixed. The first chapter is an excellent source of info on female anatomy. This chapter, in my opinion, is the only part with outstanding in-depth information of relevance. Chapter two is about the history of sex. The author goes back to Freud and elaborates on views of sex over the years. As another reviewer commented, this chapter contains quips about how women's sexauality has been repressed. Chapter three deals with female ejaculation (was not impressed with this part). Chapters four & five are about self exploration. The book is a quick read. The valable information in this book is contained in chapter one and also in the extensive list of resources in the back.

Buy this book. And a mirror.
Yes, this is indeed a feminist book (although since a "feminist", by definition, is simply someone who believes that women are equal human beings too, I'm not quite sure why some people have a problem with that).
But to be honest, it's pretty hard to discover how ignorant most women are about this fairly crucial part of our bodies and NOT come to the conclusion that something's wrong with the way our society deals with women's sexuality. I thought I was well-informed, but I learnt important stuff about my body from this book that I'd never known before.
If substantial numbers of men grew up not knowing they had a penis ... or not knowing where it was ... or how it worked ... or thinking that it was "dirty" to touch it ... or feeling ashamed of needing their lover to touch it in order for them to come ... I think you'd agree that something was wrong. Well, despite all the progress we've made, that's where far too many women are still at right now. Most sex...

Do you want to be a great lover and enjoy consistently great sex? Would you like reliable erections that don't wilt in the middle of lovemaking? Would you like superb ejaculatory control? Would you like your penis to be as large as it possibly can be? Do you want women to sing your sexual praises? All these sexual benefits can be yours if you read Great Sex and take its message to heart.

Author Michael Castleman is the nation's top journalist specializing in men's sexuality. He has been a sex educator, counselor, and writer for 30 years, including 5 years as the expert who answered the sex questions submitted to the Playboy Advisor. Written with the help of an advisory board that includes some of the nation's leading sex therapists, Great Sex is certain to help you overcome your sex problems; become a better, more confident lover; and enjoy the sex of your dreams.

Castleman's message is surprisingly simple: Stop imitating the rushed, all-genital sex you see in pornography. Instead, cultivate the opposite: leisurely, playful, total-body, massage-based lovemaking that includes the genitals, of course, but is not focused on them.

Sex inspired by pornography is a major reason why men think their penises are too small and why they have erection and ejaculatory problems. With wit, wisdom, and down-to-earth sympathy for men, Castleman discusses his own penis--like yours, it's a little too small--and his own struggles with balky erections, rapid ejaculation, and not expressing orgasm at all. Then, based on state-of-the-art sex therapy techniques, leading sexology texts, and almost 400 medical journal articles, he reveals how to overcome these issues and enjoy a satisfying and exciting sex life.

What's more, the sexual style Castleman advocates is the way most women prefer to make love. Take Castleman's advice and you'll benefit by having a lover who is more arousable, responsive, enthusiastic, and complimentary. In other words, when you embrace sensual, creative, whole-body lovemaking, everybody wins. You have fewer sex problems. The woman you love gets what she wants in bed. And you both enjoy sex that's hotter, more erotic, and more fulfilling.

Review :
Great Sex bears repeating
Some things bear repeating and the efficacy of Michael Castleman's book Great Sex, is one of them.

Nowhere will a reader find another work that provides so much insightful information on how men and women can work together to create delectably healthy sexual relationships. From lackluster sex to male performance anxiety to the dearth of knowledge surrounding the female sexual response, Castleman tackles virtually every sexual issue affecting couples today.

According to Castleman, Great Sex is something a couple creates together, not something innate or imitated.

One of Castleman's most salient points comes in his discussion of media messages (primarily those conveyed through pornography) and how they wreak havoc on our personal sexual relations. He encourages us to understand that real life luxurious sex is far better than media inspired sex -- where there seems to be a rush to the genitals and then to intercourse.

Men who read this work...
A remarkable amount of knowledge
What's not to like about a man who is confident in bed, knows how to please a woman, can always get an erection on command, and can have long-lasting, satisfying sex every time? Wait - you say that's not you? Read GREAT SEX, by Michael Castleman, and it will be.
Michael Castleman makes it clear that he's not a doctor, or a sex therapist. He does have thirty years of experience dealing with men's sexual issues, however, as an educator and a journalist. This experience shows in every chapter of GREAT SEX. The first part focuses on "The Principles of Great Sex for Men". This is where the author's main theme for the book comes in: stop trying to perform like a porn star, and start using your entire body to pleasure yourself and your partner. Each one of the senses should be involved in lovemaking, and Michael Castleman gives great examples of how to make that happen. The second part focuses on women's sexuality and well being, but keeping in mind that the book is targeted at men,...
Laurie Watson, LMFT, LPC, sex therapist
I've been looking for a book for many years to recommend to male clients that teaches how to really touch a woman. Working with women struggling with low desire, I know that, too often, low libido results from her partner's poor technique and a lack of education about a woman's sexual response. Most men learn about sex either from pornography which is completely misleading or from experience which may or may not have taught him what he needs to know. Even sexually experienced men may not know what really turns a woman on. Castleman has produced the best comprehensive book that I know of, to educate and help a man become a superior lover.

From an expert in integrative medicine, a thirty-day plan to help women lose weight and look and feel years younger.

As they grow older, many women struggle to lose weight. Unlike many men their age, they may also suffer from sleep problems, osteoporosis, and depression. Many women may even feel like they age less slowly and gracefully than their male counterparts.

Dr. Tami Meraglia knows that the magic word here is testosterone. While there is ample discussion in the medical community about the effects of estrogen loss, few people are aware of the importance of sufficient testosterone levels in women. A healthy dosage helps women slim down, improves their mood, lowers the risk of cardiac disease, increases energy and libido, prevents osteoporosis, enhances skin tone and texture, and may even prevent cognitive decline—yet more than 90 percent of women over age forty-five suffer from low testosterone levels. In The Hormone Secret, Dr. Tami offers an evidence-based thirty-day plan to restore healthy levels of testosterone and balance the relative levels of other hormones, based on lifestyle modifications such as supplements and nutritional adjustments. She also offers her Mediterranean Diet–based meal plan and low-impact exercise ideas that will immediately boost your energy.

With cutting-edge research and strong scientific evidence to support Dr. Tami’s thirty-day plan, The Hormone Secret gives you all the information you need to balance your hormones and improve your vitality for a strong and healthy life.

Glaring Error
The info is great; but, don't go by the chart results. In one chart, the highest number you could possibly get is 58, yet the explanation categories went all the way to 71 which could not have been achieved. I fell in the average category when I should have been in the worst. It always makes me wonder what other errors there are and why wasn't the material proof-read before being released.

Great book! Her supplement recommendations have me sleeping again ...

"You can't just be the smartest. You have to be the most athletic, you have to be able to have the most fun, you have to be the prettiest, the best dressed, the nicest, the most wanted. You have to constantly be out on the town partying, and then you have to get straight As. And most of all, you have to appear to be happy." -- CJ, age seventeen

High school isn't what it used to be. With record numbers of students competing fiercely to get into college, schools are no longer primarily places of learning. They're dog-eat-dog battlegrounds in which kids must set aside interests and passions in order to strategize over how to game the system. In this increasingly stressful environment, kids aren't defined by their character or hunger for knowledge, but by often arbitrary scores and statistics.

In The Overachievers, journalist Alexandra Robbins delivers a poignant, funny, riveting narrative that explores how our high-stakes educational culture has spiraled out of control. During the year of her ten-year reunion, Robbins returns to her high school, where she follows students, including CJ and others:

  • Julie, a track and academic star who is terrified she's making the wrong choices;
  • "AP" Frank, who grapples with horrifying parental pressure to succeed;
  • Taylor, a soccer and lacrosse captain whose ambition threatens her popular girl status;
  • Sam, who worries his years of overachieving will be wasted if he doesn't attend a name-brand college;
  • Audrey, who struggles with perfectionism; and
  • The Stealth Overachiever, a mystery junior who flies under the radar.
Robbins tackles hard-hitting issues such as the student and teacher cheating epidemic, over-testing, sports rage, the black market for study drugs, and a college admissions process so cutthroat that some students are driven to depression and suicide because of a B. Even the earliest years of schooling have become insanely competitive, as Robbins learned when she gained unprecedented access into the inner workings of a prestigious Manhattan kindergarten admissions office. A compelling mix of fast-paced storytelling and engrossing investigative journalism, The Overachievers aims both to calm the admissions frenzy and to expose its escalating dangers.

Review :
I know this feeling -- I am right in the middle of this now
Let me give a personal perspective on The Overachiever "phenomenon." I am about to start a year off before college because of the extreme mental and physical toll high school took on me.

I took on too much throughout high school because my father pushed me. I interned at a biotech company, I headed three clubs at school, I took a full load of AP classes, and I missed lunch each day. I routinely stayed up all night, or slept 2 or 3 hours, to fit it all in and maintain my grades.

Red Bull was my life. Coke didn't do it anymore. Neither did coffee.

And then one day I passed out in the hallway at my house, and wound up in the hospital for two weeks with an irregular heartbeat from all the caffiene. I was so worn out, so out of shape, such a mess.

And you know what my father's first reaction was? "You're never going to get into Harvard if you're in this hospital and missing all this school!" I kicked him out of the room and cried. I...
A Sneak Preview of Your Future Doctor, Lawyer, President
The Overachievers profiles nine students at one of the top public schools in the country. Most of the students are from wealthy families and do not need to worry about how they will pay for college. In fact, most of them are not actually worried about getting into college so much as getting into the Right College. You know, Harvard, Yale, Stanford. So why would I care about these kids? They have it made, and if they are stressing out about whether they are accepted into Princeton or have to settle for Duke, well boo hoo.

And yet I found I was very interested in what happened to these students. Alexandra Robbins (who attended this very high school and then Middlebury College and then graduate school at Yale) tells the stories from the students' perspectives. In between finding out what is motivating these teenagers, Robbins explores a host of relevant subjects: peer pressure, family pressure, No Child Left Behind, the SAT and AP exams, prescription drugs (especially...
Recollections from an "average" kid...
The author's writing style does an excellent job of bringing these young people to life, and it seems easier to feel sympathy for these youngsters than it was to empathize with the rather bitchy young adults she described in "Pledged".

But Walt Whitman is not only a school for highly achieving, stressed-out, Ivy League strivers. It is also a school for average kids, quiet kids, goths, drug users, dope sellers, artists, devoutly religious kids, and single-pointed nerds who are the farthest thing from the polished, well-rounded, resume kings and queens portrayed in this narrative. At least, it was when I attended the school and graduated nearly twenty years ago, and to a large extent, it probably still is today.

The average students are rarely featured in the narrative, except in terms of their relationships with the overachievers, but it would have been interesting had the author focused a little more on how an elite public school like Walt Whitman shapes the...
